I have lived in Staten Island my whole life. In fourth grade I moved from Stapleton to Silver Lake. They are two opposite places to live. Silver Lake is nice and quiet and safe, while in Stapleton, me and my sibling were only able to go outside when an adult was with us. I am a fifteen year old Italian/European girl, and I was raised to be Catholic by my middle class family. I have a fairly large family. There are six people in my immediate family. My father is in the housing authority and my mother is a teacher. A tradition that me and my family have, is going snowboarding almost every weekend in the winter. Snowboarding and swimming are my two favorite things. I joined a swim team when i was four and I have been swimming ever since. Although i am a swimmer, i am not a fan of the ocean. Sharks are my biggest fear, which is why i rarely go in the ocean. When I graduate college, I am hoping to have a career working with special education children. I already have some experience in this field. Every Friday, my advisory class goes to a Hungerford special ed class and we do activities with the children. I lifeguard at the JCC and every Monday I give a group of about fifteen special education children swim lessons. Disables children are not the only thing I care about. I am in a fashion show to raise money for an organization called "To Write love on her arms." This organization raises money for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
